Meet Newcastle’s Young Liar. They’ve tagged their soundcloud with ‘Mogwai’ but in reality it sounds more like the Scot’s own protege’s Errors that these guys have taken influence from. More of the danceable riff than the blissed out space, it stands alone in it’s own right.
From their new ‘EP2′ out 26th March via The Calico Print label.
Just heard Melbourne’s Wintercoats for the first time today and I’m completely in love. Ethereal and beautifully textured, it’s like Still Corners floating over a haze of Oliver Tank while Owen Pallet plucks away in the background.
You can grab this track for free, featuring the gorgeous vocals of (Charlotte) Sea Oleena.
Cate Le Bon “Fold The Cloth” official video from The Control Group on Vimeo. I love Cate Le Bon. Originally from West Wales, she’s been residing in Cardiff the past few years when not on the road supporting the likes of Slow Club and St. Vincent or playing with Neon Neon. Having just released her [...]
Bertie B from the Just Like Honey podcast is running the London Marathon this spring in aid of Breast Cancer Care. If this wasn’t an amazing enough effort, the site has put together a covers compilation to help raise sponsorship. They’ve asked 11 bands to cover their Jesus and Mary Chain namesake, including some stellar [...]
Berlin via Swansea producers Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka released debut album They Live! this week on the 50Weapons label. Ten tracks of bass house brilliance that works just as deep on headphones as in a nightclub, Halo is one of the more melancholic moments on the record. I also had them in the mix [...]
Joe Primary 1 is back! He silently released his debut album a year and a bit ago, did a few shows, and then disappeared. What he left behind was a deeply underrated collection of pop songs and my eternal hope that he would return. Now under the moniker Amateur Best, he releases debut single Be [...]
I first wrote about Lower Dens back in 2010 when I completely fell in love with their debut record. It slowly became one of my favourites of the year and when I finally saw the band play live, everything fell in to place. Live, they flood and engulf the room with those same layers of [...]
Check out the schizophrenic new video from Cardiff’s Islet. The band released their debut album proper, Illuminated People, today. A catatonic collection of genre-breaking, sugar swollen left-field pop, it’s the closest the band have come to ever capturing their utter brilliance live. It deserves many listens. Buy.
I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do. Send me your music, tell me your thoughts, and if there's something here you'd rather not have posted please get in touch at waitfortheclick [at] gmail [dot] com.
