I blogged this track back in April, but had to write about it again.
Man Without Country are a Cardiff 3 piece. They write overwhelming pop songs with a post-rock spaced out synth glisten that lies somewhere between The Postal Service and M83.
Having been supported recently by BBC Introducing they’re currently receiving daytime plays on Radio 1 for one week only. In light of this they’ve made Closet Addicts Anonymous a free download from their site.
Last week I got a lift back home with some friends. It was a late night 3 hour car ride. Balanced on the right side of drunk I decided to fall into my iPod as conversation slowed to silence. It was my first listen to Twin-Hand Movement, the new album from Lower Dens.
I’d seen the name floating about but the sounds that covered me as I sat, eyes shut in the passenger seat were suffocating. A heavy blanket of Beach House vocals, the darkness of Zola Jesus, the guitar walls of Electrelane. I am completely in love and I don’t even know their names.
I want to tell everyone about this record. I want to talk about it and nothing else. I am getting on everyone’s nerves.
I remember hearing Clare Maguire on the radio ages ago as I was driving on a dimly lit evening. I remember it well, the sounds which spilled from my cheap car stereo stuck. Intense, fragile, and captivating. I remember reading about her online. And then nothing. It seems she and her label are now finally [...]
I have the best problem in the world – too much amazing music to blog about. These last few days have seen me nothing but incredible free downloads with absolutely no time to further share links and excitement for these tracks. So I may as well just do them all now in one big post. [...]
I am so tired. Weekends blend into weeks blend back into the weekend. And it never ends. Trains and buses and cars and bikes. I wish I blogged more. I wish I slept more. I can’t be bothered to type up the whole story of how this came about. You can read it here anyway. [...]
There are a few indie bands in the UK I hold very close to my heart, but Tubelord always find a way to pull a hundred strings. If they’re not being utterly charming on stage then they’re kicking the shit out of their live set. If they aren’t compelling you to try and conquer your [...]
I first heard Evenings over on Get Off The Coast and since then I’ve been completely hooked. It all begins so simple and delicately but builds into something huge, heartfelt, and encapsulating in my headphones before it disappears into dust. I love this EP so much, and it’s free.
HEALTH BONUS TRACKS by cityslang Sometimes the most challenging listens are the most rewarding. The first time I pressed play on You Will Love Each Other I had no idea what was going on. It was disturbing, dark, disorientating, but ultimately appealing. There was just something different about Health, and I completely fell for their [...]
Part of me really wants to see how many tennis puns I can get into this post. Something like… Tennis are a married couples who’ve been back and forth on the blogs for the last few sets of posts. Even Pitchfork have served their music over the net, courting the band with no backhanded compliments, [...]
Credit cards to hand, paper out. Transferring funds, cashing in favours. I’m kind of broke this month. Almost. If I had any sense I’d wait until next month to buy the Baths album. If I had any sense. Can’t stop falling for this track every time it loops on my iPod. It’s so chaotic but [...]
I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do. Send me your music, tell me your thoughts, and if there's something here you'd rather not have posted please get in touch at waitfortheclick [at] gmail [dot] com.
