The Best Things In Life.

July 15, 2010

I have the best problem in the world – too much amazing music to blog about. These last few days have seen me nothing but incredible free downloads with absolutely no time to further share links and excitement for these tracks.

So I may as well just do them all now in one big post. The rain’s too loud to sleep anyway.

Hold Your Horse Is

Brand new single from their forthcoming EP ‘Rammin It Home’, out August 23rd through BSM. This is a fierce, immediate and exhilarating slap of UK indie/punk that the BSM imprint is becoming well regarded for.

Owen Pallet

A brand new EP from one of the finest musicians on the face of the planet. Domino USA are giving away the album version of Lewis Takes Off His Shirt as well as three remixes of said track (one from CFCF!) and two remixes of additional tracks. The Simon Bookish Remix alone is worth the donation of one email address.

Coma Cinema

I love this so much. One of those finds that sat on my hard drive patiently awaiting it’s glorious discovery. Downbeat but still entirely comforting. This is how indie should sound. Emotive and genuine, lo-fi without being distant, warm. Download the Stoned Alone LP now. It’s free and incredible.

RxRy

I met RxRy at SXSW and can testify that he most certainly isn’t Panda Bear, nor is he some kind of trust fund hipster, just a really nice guy who seemed incredibly passionate about his music. It’s sad to read his blog, especially when by writing about it I’m sort of adding to the problem, but new album VAEIOUWLS is an interesting and inspired listen and even if it never finds a physical release, it’d be a shame for it to not find a few more loving sets of ears.

COOLRUNNINGS

There’s not so much I can write here about the Babes Forever EP other than it kicks ass. It’s a completely unpredictable, totally addictive mess of cross-genre crooning. The only reliable thing is the quality, which doesn’t to let up once. As in it succeeds. As in it kicks ass. Yeh.

Captain Ahab

The Propagation Of The Gospel In Foreign Parts – a free live album from the LA duo. NSFW, or for those of a nervous disposition, or those who treasure their sanity. Handle with care and the words of Andrew WK.

I feel a lot better now.
